Fat grafting is a new technique in the reconstruction of breast. It is also known as autologous. In the fat grafting process, fat tissues are removed from other parts of body such as thighs, belly and buttocks by using the liposuction technique. The tissue then processed into liquid form and injected into the breast area, thus recreating the breast.
Fat grafting is a safer procedure as it does not involve major surgery. In one type of fat grafting, Brava, an external device to expand the tissue may have to use for many weeks before and after the fat grafting. Brava is like a bra with plastic cones for cups. The cones help the breast area to expand the tissue by putting suction and create a matrix for the fat to live in.
Fat grafting is an extension of lipofilling which has been used for many year to fix minor changes in the shape, balance and position of the breast. Since, the lipo filling was a successful one, the scientists thought can able to rebuild a whole breast using the extra fat in the body.
Fillers are a temporary (just last 6 months to 2 years) anti-aging solution while fat grafting is permanent because your own living fat cells are used as a filler. Fat grafting gives you a very natural looking. Fat injections can be ideal to restore youthfulness to the checks, temple and underneath the eyes achieving a softer look without facelift.
More doctors are considering fat grafting breast augmentation as a safe alternative and it can help in cases where an implant is not necessary. For example it can be great for the reconstruction of breast if someone has had a lumpectomy, or for correcting defects like uneven breasts. It's also a good alternative for women who want a subtle augmentation rather than going up several sizes, plus it has the benefit of not introducing any foreign material into the body. The fat transfer technique includes using a special suction-pump bra device for a few weeks before surgery to pre-expand the breasts-provides greater augmentation than fat transfer alone.
Fat Grafting emerged as an effective treatment for scars using autologous fat grafting. The scars -- resulting from burns, surgery, or other causes -- may not improve with other treatments. The fat grafting procedure began with liposuction to collect a small amount of the patient's own fat tissue, usually from the abdomen or hips. After processing, surgeons reinjected the fat cells under the skin in the area of scarring.
Fat grafting technique is widely used for the long-lasting rejuvenation of the dorsum of the hands . With this technique, small intact parcels of fatty tissue are harvested with a syringe and a blunt 3-mm cannula( a tube than can be inserted into the body). Then, most of the nonviable components are removed from the harvested subcutaneous material by centrifugation, decanting, and wicking. Finally, a big cannula places the fat in minuscule parcels of tissue with many passes through five or six tiny incisions in the hand.
Fat transfer is done by taking fat from areas such as the stomach, flanks, hips, and inner and outer thighs. The fat is removed with a very gentle liposuction that uses a fine cannula to protect live fat cells. The fat particles are then mixed with your own platelet rich plasma and injected back droplet by droplet into the layers of the buttocks through one very small incision on each side. The tiny pearl size fat droplets are deposited throughout the muscle layers so the fat cells will have a good blood supply and best chance of survival. This layering method will create a smooth, more rounded buttock with no irregularities or dents and give a very natural look.
